Of Place was engaged by the client to help guide placemaking and retail leasing efforts for the 2.5 million-square-foot mixed-use development in Washington D.C.’s Ward 8—Anacostia’s first large scale mixed-use development. The client aimed to shift public perception, to elevate the market east of the river, and to drive residential rents through a thoughtful merchandising mix and a robust neighborhood brand.
